As a fully qualified  & insured therapist & teacher, with over 12 years practical experience, Nicola Smith offers individual sessions of Zero Balancing Thai Massage, Holistic Pulsing and Yoga for men and women of all ages and all physical abilities.

What happens during a session?

My interest in bodywork is to provide the support and the space for you to feel how you would like to feel in your body. I work with you to help you find a way toward greater balance, deep relaxation and ease within yourself. All sessions last around 1 hour unless specified.

Which type of bodywork and how many sessions should I have?

Before the first session, we have an informal consultation where, unless you have specified a particular form of bodywork, we take the time to find out what is the best approach for your current need or situation. People come for bodywork for all sorts of reasons: to improve posture, ease physical pain or to just to build-on the feeling of 'feeling good'.

One-off sessions are available, although if you are wanting to work with a particular issue or specific problem then a minimum of 3 sessions is initially recommnded. This will give your body the time to undergo a process of deeper changes & enables you to fully integrate the work you have received.

Please feel free to contact me for an informal chat to see if I am able to help you, or if you have any specific questions.

Cancellation Policy: If you need to cancel or change your appointment time, please give 24 hours notice. Appointments cancelled within this time may be charged at the full fee.

Holistic Pulsing Print E-mail

Holistic Pulsing is a rhythmic, rocking form of bodywork that encompasses the whole body and allows you to increase your sensitivity to your body in order to engage in the process of dynamic re-patterning the body, mind and spirit”

“Life affirming” - Pulsing is often described as "The Tai Chi of massage". While this captures something of its spirit, Pulsing actually contains little of what most people would consider as massage. The client lies on a couch, but may remain fully clothed; no oil is used. Rather than working soft tissue, Pulsing focuses on setting up a vibration within and around  the skeletal system to improve mobility,  movement and function. As it releases tensions accumulated around the spinal column so the breathing mechnanim is liberated and more freedom can be felt throughout the whole  system.

Pulsing is suitable for all ages and fitness levels and can be received in the 2nd and 3rd term of pregnancy.
It can be especially useful for releasing patterns of chronic physical and emotional tension and recipients often report a feeling of “relaxed aliveness”

Yoga Print E-mail
Yoga is a wonderful way to re-educate the body; learning how to relax and undo tensions, explore fuller movement and breathing and to experience inner peace, stillness & freedom. If you are new to yoga or would like to re-establish a solid foundation to your practice then a series of 1-2-1 classes is ideal.

Zero Balancing Print E-mail

Zero Balancing is a gentle yet powerful way of balancing body energy with body structure.

It is one of the few forms of bodywork which works directly with the bones and the foundation joints, acknowledging the bone as flexible tissue which changes, listens and responds to events in our lives.

"Bone holds our deepest and oldest memories, it reacts to joy or shock, breathes and fails to breathe. Diet, trauma, work, and sensory stimulation all profoundly affect the growth and quality of our bones. Bone carries the imprint of all that we do, and of where we have been" It is by working with the bone and the energy flow within it that Z.B. effectively helps to release deeply and chronically held tensions in the physical, mental and emotional bodies.

During the course of the session the client remains fully clothed and lies on their back on a treatment couch. 'The practitioner uses finger pressure and held stretches to  provide  points of stillness around which the body can intelligently release deeply held tension, offering us a new level of experience and integration'
